Welcome to Geek on the Go. I provide on-site and remote computer repair, maintenance, and IT support services in New York State. Your privacy and the security of your data is incredibly important to me.

PART 1: PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy describes how Geek on the Go ("I," "me," or "my") collects, uses, protects, and discloses your information when you use my website, book my services, or entrust me with your physical and digital devices.

1. Information I Collect

In order to diagnose and repair your devices, I may collect the following information:

  • Contact Information: Name, email address, physical address (for on-site service), and phone number.

  • Device Credentials: Temporary usernames, passwords, or PIN codes necessary to log into your computer to perform repairs.

  • Billing Information: Credit card or bank details processed securely through our third-party payment processors. I do not store full credit card numbers on our systems.

  • System Diagnostics: Specifications, operating system details, error logs, and software inventories of the machines I service.

2. How I Protect Your Data (NYS SHIELD Act Compliance)

Under the New York State SHIELD Act, I maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect the "private information" of NYS residents:

  • Data Minimization: I do not copy, backup, or browse your personal files (photos, documents, emails) unless explicitly authorized by you as part of a data recovery or transfer service.

  • Credential Security: Passwords and keys provided to our technicians are securely logged in an encrypted password manager and permanently deleted/forgotten once the repair is complete.

  • Physical Protection: Any device left in our physical custody is stored securely to prevent unauthorized physical access. 

3. Share and Disclosure of Information

I never sell your personal information or data. Your computer and/or mobile information will not be shared or sold to third parties for the purpose of marketing. 


I only share information with:

  • Trusted third-party tools (like scheduling software or billing processors) necessary to complete your service.

  • Law enforcement, only if required by a valid subpoena or court order.

 

PART 2: TERMS & CONDITIONS

By booking a service with Geek on the Go, you agree to the following terms:

1. Customer Responsibility for Data Backup

CRITICAL WARNING: You, the customer, are solely responsible for backing up all data, software, and files prior to our service. Geek on the Go is not liable for any data loss, file corruption, or system failure that occurs during the diagnostic or repair process.

2. Abandoned Property

Any devices left in our possession for more than sixty (60) days after I have notified you that the service is complete will be considered abandoned. I reserve the right to recycle, sell, or dispose of the device to cover outstanding diagnostic and repair costs, subject to New York State law.

3. Estimate & Authorization of Repair

I will diagnose your device and provide an estimate before performing any repair work. If you choose not to proceed with the repair after a diagnostic check, a standard diagnostic fee will still apply.

PART 3: COMMUNICATIONS & STOP INSTRUCTIONS

I may occasionally contact you via email or SMS text message to update you on your repair status, follow up on your satisfaction, or share technical tips and seasonal promotions.

How to Opt-Out (Stop Instructions)

  • Text Messages (SMS): You may opt-out of text notifications at any time. Simply reply STOP to any text message you receive from us. Once you send "STOP," I will send one final text confirming you have been unsubscribed, and I will no longer send you SMS messages.

  • Email Marketing: Click the "Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of any marketing email, or email me directly at support@geekonthego.com with the subject line "Unsubscribe."
